It’s not about everyone having the same skinny jean anymore. It’s about your daily state of mind. (Sharleen Ernster Lazear, Chief Design Officer at Guess)
At Alter Creations, there’s one thing we take as commandment: All women are beautiful.
The problem, however, is that not all of them know how to flaunt that beauty, so they end up wearing less-than-flattering clothes that leave them looking more disheveled than put-together.
One staple that they most often neglect is their jeans! But we’d like to (help) put an end to that by teaching you some helpful hints about the perfect jeans FOR YOUR BODY TYPE + a few fit tips that we’ve gathered both from our experience and from a recent issue of Glamour.
[Note: The brands we mention here didn’t sponsor this post.]
If You Have A Bubble Butt
Pick a rise that’s high enough to be flattening in front AND back–no gapping.
Brand you’ll want to check out: NYDJ ($110 at amazon.com/fashion), Hudson Jeans ($165 at hudsonjeans.com), and Lands’ End ($59-69 at landsend.com)
If You’re Straight Up & Down
A high waist gives your body more shape. Try to find one that covers the entire length of your legs to elongate them.
Brands you’ll want to check out: American Eagle ($70 at macys.com), Bebe ($89 at bebe.com), and AG ($188 at agjeans.com)
If You Have A Tummy
Jeans that feel “like Spanx” are awesome! Their mid rise can help suck you in without cutting into your sides, so you can still tuck in a shirt.
Brands you’ll want to check out: DKNY Jeans ($70 at macys.com), New York & Company ($60 at nyandcompany.com), and Old Navy ($35 at oldnavy.com)
If You Have Wide Hips
Watch for where fading is placed as it makes those areas look bigger. Go for an allover dash wash. You could even pick some that are nice and stretchy.
Brands you’ll want to check out: Armani Exchange ($88 at armaniexchange.com), Lee ($56 at lee.com), and Calvin Klein ($70 at select Macy’s, 800-289-6229)
BONUS: THE MOST FLATTERING TIPS OF ALL TIME!
• “Try on two pairs in the same size AND cut because they can vary!”
• “If you hem skinny jeans, TAPER them too or they’ll be straight-leg.”
• “Large pockets slim your butt.”
• “If your waistband digs, swipe it for a wider 3 1/2″ one at a tailor.”
• “Look for side seams that come to the front a bit. They’re very slimming.”
